Swooping off to Vegas
Today, Kelowna International Airport (YLW) celebrated the inaugural flight to McCarran International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas with ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop.
To kick off the celebrations, Power 104 and Beach 103 were live on-location to announce the winners to the Swoopcase Party contest, where nine pre-selected couples arrived at the airport with bags-packed for a chance to win one of two trips to Las Vegas. As a twist, all nine couples won and boarded Swoop’s inaugural Las Vegas flight from Kelowna.
“We are thrilled to not only launch new service to Las Vegas today, but announce all nine couples will be jetting off with Swoop today,” said Sam Samaddar, Airport Director. “Today is extra exciting as we get to share with the community that these non-stop flights will continue to operate through the winter and into spring 2020.”
Last month, YLW welcomed Swoop to Kelowna and celebrated its inaugural non-stop flight to Winnipeg. The addition of Las Vegas will increase Swoop service out of Kelowna to five days per week.
“The non-stop service to Las Vegas has generated a lot of excitement,” said Karen McIsaac, Sr. Advisor of Communications at Swoop. “So much so, that we eagerly announced the continuation of the service throughout the winter schedule, which we released earlier this week.”
The twice-weekly service operates Thursdays and Sundays on modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Travellers can book flights to Las Vegas with Swoop through to April 25, 2020.
