Reconnect to more destinations than ever - safely

News release

YLW is excited to see airlines returning with a variety of cross-Canada routes to major destinations, and wants travellers to be assured safety measures remain in place so we can all reconnect safely as recreational travel starts up again.

“As the province and our region begins to re-open, the return of more air service through YLW is an important marker of progress in our economic recovery,” says Sam Samaddar, YLW’s Airport Director. “While it’s always been safe to travel by plane due to our excellent safety protocols, we look forward to seeing more travel happening now that more and more destinations are open to recreational travel, including our own.”

In anticipation of continued safe re-opening, new routes have been added by Air Canada, Flair, Swoop and WestJet to destinations across Canada. New route announcements will continue over the coming weeks and months. Travellers can find all the destinations available through YLW at ylw.kelowna.ca/destinations.

Passengers who are flying this summer still need to keep pandemic safety top of mind. Be sure to know the following before booking your flight:

  • Masks are still required in all public areas of the terminal. Please bring a mask with you as disposable masks are available for purchase only and supplies may be limited.
  • Sanitize your hands upon entering the terminal and remember to wash or sanitize your hands frequently throughout the duration of your trip.
  • Stay home if you’re sick. If you’re feeling ill, do not enter the airport. Passengers displaying signs of sickness will not be permitted to board an aircraft.

Departing passengers who require a negative COVID-19 test prior to international travel can book an appointment for a test at YLW. To book an appointment, visit whitecapcovidtesting.com or call 604-966-3777.
